Muktinath maha Vishnu Temple, Muktinath

Travel Date: 2023 December 18

Muktinath Temple, located in the Mustang district of Nepal at an altitude of 3,710 meters (12,172 feet), is a revered pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Vishnu, one of Hinduism's principal deities. This sacred site holds great significance for both Hindus and Buddhists, with the former believing that a visit and ritual bathing in its waters lead to salvation, while the latter associate it with the Bodhisattva of compassion, Avalokiteshvara. The temple's unique architecture showcases a blend of Hindu and Buddhist styles, featuring 108 water spouts, known as "Muktidhara," which are believed to purify the souls of devotees. Surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of the Annapurna mountain range, Muktinath attracts thousands of pilgrims and adventure seekers each year, especially during major festivals like Dashain and Tihar. Accessible via road and trekking routes from nearby Jomsom, the journey to Muktinath is as much about spiritual exploration as it is about experiencing the stunning natural beauty of the region
